Evan grew up in a town called Southold on the North Fork of Long Island surrounded by all of the local produce, wine, and seafood the area provides. Growing up in Southold shopping adventures to local farmstands, visits to local vineyards, fishing, and strawberry & apple picking were staples of everyday life.
His grandparents hail from Poland and Morocco only arriving in America in the late 1940's. Therefore, the traditions and skills with regards to food and cooking they were brought up with remained a regular part of their life. Stale bread was saved to make breadcrumbs, making homemade jams & pickles were seasonal traditions, and having a summer garden was absolutely necessary.
In addition to growing up learning to cook with his family and friends, he has worked at various restaurants and bars on the North Fork both during and after college including Pepi's Ristorante, The Red Rooster, Claudio's Clambar, & The Loft at Harbourfront. He is a certified bartender and also spent a summer working as a private chef on a yacht in the south of France. Evan currently lives in Brooklyn and works full time managing the design and construction of solar installations and cooks in his spare time for his wonderful friends and their frequent guests.
Dinner parties are hosted on a bimonthly basis, currently by invite only. Menus typically consist of four or five course meals centered around seasonal & local ingredients. As the name of my venture implies - everything is cooked almost completely from scratch.
